Who We Are.
"Empathy is about finding echoes of another person in yourself."
Moshin Hamid
With over 40 years combined experience working in communications training, at Act One we are passionate about the importance of being able to connect to others clearly and effectively. Empathy is at the core of our work as we believe it to be a powerful tool in achieving impactful interactions in all areas of life, whether you are a high-level criminal investigator, an HR assistant dealing with a grievance or even a parent negotiating with their child!
With our team of highly experienced and skilled actors, we create an immersive learning experience for your internal training programmes and courses. We also write, devise and facilitate a variety of communication skills development courses and training workshops. By marrying the important theoretical aspects of communications with the immediacy of interactive practical elements, we help people improve and expand communication skills in a supportive, structured and empowering environment.
The power of empathy based roleplay and training to positively affect and improve any professional or personal interaction cannot be overstated. It is crucial for building strong relationships with colleagues or clients.
Roleplay
By simulating real-life scenarios in a safe training environment, roleplay can be a potent tool to improve professional interactions.
We have a team of experienced actors, who can absorb complex briefs, bring them to life and make them feel real and immediate. They are able to provide detailed constructive feedback, and answer questions from participants in order to clarify and enhancing learning.
The idea of participating in roleplay can be daunting, especially when asked to do so in front of colleagues and peers, but our actors are well versed in breaking the ice and making people feel comfortable. From there, participants simply have to be themselves and engage.
By using professional roleplayers and facilitators a level of credibility and engagement is established, keeping people in the moment and maximising learning in a supportive and safe space that is without judgement. And it's fun too!
Training
As well as having highly skilled roleplayers we also have a team of experienced facilitators and trainers who work across the globe within many different industries.
We offer a variety of courses including:

What We Do.
“Communication works for those who work at it.”
John Powell
In short, we can help you and your employees communicate better, either internally with each other, or externally with clients and customers. We can help you improve your team's communication and interpersonal skills to better achieve the outcomes you desire.
We are very proud to have a strong partnership with Orbit Interviewing, https://www.orbitinterviewing.com the world leading research and training company working with the best law enforcement and military intelligence agencies across the world. Their work involves communicating effectively under extreme pressure in high stakes interactions with suspects and witnesses, where the foundation of that work can easily be applied to more everyday communications too.
If you want to increase the impact of your internal team development, change company culture or up-skill your workforce, then Act One offers a whole host of options to help your team. Our highly skilled roleplayers, facilitators, and trainers have experience across the corporate, police, military intelligence, bioscience, social care and charity sectors.
Communication skills training leads not only to a better functioning team but also improved morale. When people feel like they can communicate better they feel heard. Validated. And they can take those improved skills home to their friends and loved ones too. These skills are as useful in the living room as they are in the office.

Who We've Worked With.

Testimonials.
"I felt confident to give anything a go, especially in front of others, and not be afraid of the outcome."
"The actors who conducted the roleplay were extraordinary. Role-play exercises in the HO are normally painful and pointless but having these actors provided a "real time" experience really helped to put the theory into practice."
"Without question the best training I've ever received and I've been a civil servant for 30 years. I will take so much from the course forward, not only with my role but also with my personal life."
"I would have liked it to be a full week and continued working on the role play interviews."
